Malta and The Netherlands have agreed to enhance cooperation in the forensic science sector.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between the Malta Laboratories Network - an agency of the Ministry for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties - and the Netherlands Forensic Institute.

Minister Helena Dalli signed on behalf of the Maltese Government and Minister Ard van der Steur on behalf of  The Netherlands.

The two countries agreed to investigate areas of cooperation in areas of forensic investigation including the promotion of standards for forensic testing and the quality standards for scene of crime investigations.

The MOU followed a series of meetings between Dr Dalli and the Netherlands Forensic Institute in The Hague.
