A teenage boy in India accidentally shot himself in the head while taking a selfie, the Indian police in Punjab province reported.

Ramandeep Singh, 15, was posing with his father's .32 caliber pistol when he accidentally pulled the trigger. The safety catch wasn't on, police said.

India is at the top of the worldwide list for selfie-related deaths, with 19 over three years.

The police in India have been instructed to step in if they see anyone attempting to take selfies in high-risk locations, including the seafront and near railway lines.
