Photo: David PisaniDin l-Art Ħelwa is holding a retrospective photographic exhibition of all past winners of the Din l-Art Ħelwa Awards for Architectural Heritage spanning the period between 2005 and 2015, as the closing event for the full year of celebrations for its 50th anniversary.
No less than 49 projects were presented with awards.
The photos will be on show at the foyer of the Parliament in Valletta. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Speaker Anġlu Farrugia on Tuesday at 11am.
The exhibition may then be visited from 1pm until Thursday, May 12. Opening hours: 9am to 5pm on weekdays; 9am to 12pm on Sunday.
• The Din l-Art Ħelwa Prize for Architectural Heritage is an annual competition which was initiated in 2005 by former executive president Martin Scicluna, together with the Kamra tal-Periti, which each year nominates one of its own to be on the panel of judges.
It takes place in the last quarter of the year, when submissions are inspected and judged according to their category.
Category A – Major Regeneration Project
Category B – Rehabilitation and Reuse of Buildings
Category C – Restoration and Conservation Projects.
The Silver Medal Award is given to that project that distinguishes itself above the others in excellence.
The criteria for judging the Din l-Art Ħelwa Award for Architectural Heritage are based on the quality of the work executed, its historical, cultural, educational and social relevance, the preliminary research conducted and the aesthetic and visual merit of the project.
The overriding consideration is the significance of the project in a Maltese context and its contribution to Maltese cultural heritage.
