Simon Busuttil is setting standards, including ethical standards, in this country.

In a couple of years of PN leadership, he confirmed he is a man of principle and that he is true to his word even in the most difficult circumstances.

He is strengthened by the power of honesty. This quality in leadership is equally beneficially applicable in the private lives of citizens and is the basis of a healthy society where people can put their minds at rest not only in terms of good governance but also as regards justice.

Today, people are deprived of these rights. The Prime Minister defends the indefensible and the police investigate the leader of the Opposition’s driver when there is no case and fail to investigate people at the top linked to the Panama saga.

The people expect the police force to be always in search of the truth within the parameters of its investigative powers, combined with those afforded by the judicial authority. The people are asking how is police discretion being used.

In the absence of moral authority by this government and in view of a situation where justice is delayed and, therefore, denied, every day, people – intelligently - are putting more and more questions. Public disillusion is being reflected in practically disintegrating support for Labour. In contrast, support for Busuttil and his party is steadily soaring, as evident in recent surveys.

People seem to be determined to be instrumental in bringing about change and secure the triumph of truth. They are feeling the impact of this disillusion on their daily lives and are becoming fully aware of the value of their vote.
