Long-serving Udinese captain Antonio Di Natale (picture) has announced that this season will be his last with the club.

The 38-year-old striker has been at the Stadio Friuli for 12 years but said yesterday that his final game will be the home match with Carpi on the last day of the Serie A season.

“I want to be good for the Carpi (match) to celebrate with the crowd and play my last match in Udine,” he said at a press conference ahead of today’s visit of Torino.

Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo said in the press conference that Di Natale is the “greatest player that the club has ever had.”

Di Natale is the record holder for Udinese in Serie A appearances, with 362 outings for Zebrette, and he is also the all-time top scorer for the club with 189 domestic goals.

The former Italy international also leads the way in European competition, with the most appearances for Udinese (37) and most goals scored (17).

Di Natale has twice announced he would be retiring before, saying he would be hanging up his boots at the end of the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons, but reversed his decision both times.

Di Natale has yet to publicly reveal whether he will call time on his career once he leaves Udinese or move onto pastures new.
