The Assoċjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi (ASMK) last weekend organised the ninth event from the 2015/16 Pasta Poiatti Championship.

A total of 42 competitors registered for the day’s events which included races for Autocross cars (standard and modified) and Motocross bikes.

In the Modified class, victory went to Christian Mark Galea, in a Fiat Ritmo, with Josef Grech (Ford Fiesta) and Andrew Pisani (Opel Nova) finishing second and third respectively.

The Class A final was marred by a collision involving several cars. Malcolm Borg, at the wheel of an Opel Corsa, was forced to retire after this incident.

In Class B, Joseph Micallef led all the way in his Opel Corsa. Jean Paul Grech (Peugeot 106) and Keith Borg (Opel Nova) were second and third respectively.

In Autocross Standard, Quin Camilleri, driving a Citroen, won all heats only to be disqualified after committing two infringements during the third heat.

Lucas Pace (Citroen AX) prevailed in the final ahead of Andreas Zammit (Opel Nova) and Terence Azzopardi (Opel Corsa).

The Motocross races were more attractive than usual with two MX riders from Sicily competing in Class B.

Gozitan rider Mario Cauchi took the day’s honours followed by James Zahra (Sherco). The two visiting riders, Fabio Galota, on a Kawasaki, and Emanuele Buongiovanni, riding a Honda, finished third and fifth respectively.

In Class A, Trevor Muscat (picture) recovered from a fall to win the race on his Honda ahead of Pierre Jourdan (KTM). Kyle Camilleri (KTM) was forced to pull out due to a mechanical fault.
