Two men were injured, one of them critically, in separate traffic accidents last night.

The police said a 35-year-old Serbian man was critically injured in a traffic accident on the Regional Road, Kappara, early this morning.

The police said the man was driving a Piaggio Runner motorcycle towards Msida when he skidded at about 2.30am. He was rushed to hospital and was later certified as being in a critical condition. The man resides in Pieta.

A Magisterial inquiry into the incident is underway. The road towards Msida was still closed at 7am due to the accident, with readers reporting heavy traffic. 

In another accident, a 25-year-old man was grievously injured when he lost control of the car he was driving and crashed into a wall at about 11.20pm in Triq Sant’Antnin, Marsascala.

District police who arrived minutes later found an extensively damaged Hyundai Accent blocking the carriageway leading to Żabbar. They also noticed that part of a recycling plant’s boundary wall had collapsed upon impact.

The driver, who lives in Żejtun, was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.
