Ings: Liverpool will pay Burnley £6.5 million for striker Danny Ings – a new record for a fee ordered by a tribunal. The figure eclipses the £3.5 million sum Chelsea had to pay Manchester City in 2009 for forward Daniel Sturridge – coincidentally now also at Anfield – although add-on clauses took the England international’s eventual cost to £8.3m.

Agbonlahor: Gabby Agbonlahor’s club suspension has been lifted after he quit as Aston Villa’s club captain following an investigation but he will not travel to Watford. The striker will be available for selection from Monday, after he was banned as pictures apparently showed him partying in the aftermath of Villa’s relegation, while Jores Okore will not be considered after saying he was not in the right frame of mind to be on the bench against Bournemouth this month.

Compensation: The former assistant manager of Leeds has won £331,426 damages over his dismissal by the club. Mr Justice Langstaff assessed the award due to Nigel Gibbs, who resigned from his post in July 2014, after a hearing at the High Court. The judge said the sum should be held by Gibbs’ solicitors until agreement was reached on the amount to be withheld because of bonuses he is to receive in his new job as assistant head of player development at Tottenham.

Inverness: Inverness have agreed a new three-year deal with midfielder Liam Polworth and say they are close to more deals. A statement revealed the club have also made offers to goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams and Danny Devine, with the defender’s decision “imminent”.

Chelsea: Michael Hector and Lucas Piazon have returned to Chelsea from Reading to train with the Blues for the remainder of the season. With Reading in mid-table in the Championship, out of play-off contention and clear of relegation danger, the pair have returned to their parent club to be assessed. Jamaica defender Hector and Brazilian midfielder Piazon will not be eligible for selection in the Blues’ remaining four League fixtures.

GFA Cup SF: Għajnsielem vs Victoria Hotspurs 4-1.
