Rugby Union: Italy prop Martin Castrogiovanni has been suspended by his club Racing 92 after being pictured partying with Paris St Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Las Vegas over the weekend. British media reported yesterday that Castrogiovanni missed Racing’s Champions Cup semi-final win over Leicester Tigers on Sunday after telling the club he had a family matter to attend to in Argentina. Castrogiovanni was joined by PSG players Marco Verratti, Javier Pastore and Salvatore Sirigu. The French club have already won the Ligue 1 title and the players have been given some time off.

Basketball: Russians Lokomotiv Krasnodar staged the Euroleague’s biggest upset of the season by knocking out twice former winners Barcelona to reach the premier club competition’s Final Four for the first time. Joyous fans poured on to the court as Lokomotiv, who had never previously reached the knockout stages, beat their illustrious visitors 81-67 to win a thrilling best-of-five quarter-final 3-2. Lokomotiv will now play compatriots and six-time winners CSKA Moscow in the semi-finals, while Fenerbahce Istanbul will lock horns with Spaniards Laboral Kutxa Vitoria at the May 13-15 showpiece event in Berlin.

Motor Racing: Former Virgin/Marussia team principal John Booth is to work with Toro Rosso on a consultancy basis, the Italian Formula One outfit announced. Englishman Booth – who created the Manor Motorsport team in 1990, which helped school the likes of future world champions Lewis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen – has been named director of racing and will take up his responsibilities from this weekend’s Russian Grand Prix. “It is a great honour to join such a well-established and competitive team as Toro Rosso,” the 61-year-old said.
