Siena-born singer Gianna Nannini will be concluding her Hitstory Tour 2016 with a concert at the MFCC in Ta’ Qali on August 28.

The tour, which kicked off on March 16 in Fermo, took the 59-year-old artist to various cities in Italy, incuding Rome, Milan, Naples and Verona, where she performed some of her best-selling tracks: Fotoromanza, Bello e impossibile and Un’estate italiana.

The set-list also includes songs from her album Hitstory.

At age 19, Nannini left her parents’ house in Siena to move to Milan, where she started singing in different localities.

Three years later, with Edoardo Bennato, she wrote the lyrics for the song Un’estate italiana, with the music by Giorgio Moroder.

Nannini and Edoardo Bennato interpreted the song together, and it became the signature tune of Italia ’90.

A graduate in philosophy from the University of Siena, Ms Nannini published her first book,Io (Me) in 2005. It has been de-scribed as a self-portrait without regrets and ‘anti-diary written with a rock rhythm’.
