Two men, including a police officer, were hospitalised following a five-car accident in San Ġwann last night.

The police said the accident happened in Triq Sant'Andrija, at 12.45am.

It started with a crash between two cars heading in the direction of Msida, driven by a 36-year-old man from Msida and a 17-year-old man. They were not injured.

A few minutes later, another three cars, including one belonging to the Police Rapid Intervention Unit crashed into them.

The police car was being driven by a 29-year-old officer from Mellieħa. He was slightly injured.

The other cars were driven by a 31-year-old man from Attard and a 33-year-old Italian man. The Italian was hospitalised but his condition is not yet known.
