Mdina returns to being the silent city tomorrow after this weekend's Medieval Festival which transformed the place into forgotten scenes from yesteryear.

Oraganised by the Mdina council, the festival, which started yesterday, has now become an annual event.

During its two days, the streets and squares of the city came alive with re-enactments, including the town crier, a slave market, a medieval kitchen, sword fighting, archery, and a medieval tavern.

There were also battles and skirmishes, magic shows, live music, falconry displays, parades and flag throwing shows.
