The first international conference addressing a sustainable built environment in Europe and the Mediterranean region with a focus on different aspects of sustainability in the built environment took place in Malta.

Supported by JM Vassallo Vibro Blocks, the conference addressed a topic that reflects the company’s advocacy of green building products and its position as a green supplier to the construction industry.

SBE16 was held at the Grand Hotel Excelsior. The local organiser is SBE Malta, the iiSBE Malta Chapter. The SBE 16 Malta Conference forms part of the SBE16 World Series of Regional conferences, organised by iiSBE (International Initiaive for a Sustainable Built Environment), UNEP (United Nations Environmental Programme), FIDIC and CIB, in preparation for the SBE17 Hong Kong World Congress.

SBE Malta iiSBE Malta Chapter is collaborating with the University, the Building Industry Consultative Council and the Ministry for the Environment, Sustainable Development and Climate Change.

The conference has attracted to Malta leading Euoropean and international academics and professionals in the field of sustainable construction, materials technology and energy efficiency and strategic planning.

The main results of the SBE16 Malta Conference will be presented at the World Congress 2017 in Hong Kong. All papers accepted by the scientific committee through a blind peer review process and presented at the conference will be published in a book of proceedings and presented for indexing in international scientific databases.
