LovinMalta.com is the latest online publication by The Lovin Group, an international media franchise. After setting up Lovin Dublin, Lovin Berlin, and Lovin Dubai, the group has now launched its new platform in Malta.

“Malta found its place very naturally within the Lovin Group. The country has a vibrant culture, great food and a very engaged and tech-savvy young audience hungry for good content,” said Lovin Group founder and CEO Niall Harbison.

“With V18 around the corner, a growing community of young expats working for gaming companies and a booming tourism industry, Malta is a great place to discover,” he added.

The Lovin Group began as a food blog called Lovin Dublin but rapidly expanded into a fully-fledged international media company offering young people informative and entertaining multimedia content about the places they live.

As a new-style media platform, its focus is on delivering engaging mobile-ready content through social media channels.

“We have a great team of talented new writers excited to add a fresh voice to the current media offering in Malta. We will be delivering content that young people have been craving: fun, relevant and compelling,” said Chris Peregin, CEO of LovinMalta.com.

Lovin Malta is also creating a new opportunity for businesses that want to connect with young people. Brands can sponsor useful, informative and engaging articles which are relevant to their sector. For further details e-mail business@lovinmalta.com.

Supporting the fisheries sector

Malta, Greece and Cyprus have started working together in the framework of the EU funded project ‘Support Measures for Small-Scale Fishing’ to increase the involvement of the small-scale fishing sector in the decision-making processes set under the Common Fisheries Policy.

The consortium of the three partners from Malta, Greece and Cyprus seeks to map out the current situation in each country and produce recommendations so as to strengthen the participation of the small scale fisheries in established bodies.

In Malta, the AquaBioTech Group will work closely with the Parliamentary Secretariat for Fisheries, fishermen’s associations and other stakeholders in order to provide the best outcome for the fisheries community.

According to the EU, the Maltese fishing fleet consists of 1,045 registered vessels and the Parliamentary Secretariat for Fisheries estimates that it provides direct employment to around 1,000 people.
