During the preliminary round of the knock-out competition, league champions Luxol ousted La Salle Unique after beating them 38-34.

La Salle started off poorly as they found it difficult to get the ball past opponents’ keeper Daniel Tanti.

Luxol steadily built an advantage as they went six goals clear going into the interval, 20-14.

La Salle improved after the break. Within 10 minutes from the start of the second half, they stormed back and reduced the deficit to one goal.

However, following a time-out, Luxol regained control and held an edge for the rest of the cup tie.

Luxol’s Hungarian marksman, David Kocsis, was voted as man of the match.

In another match, holders Aloysians Von Taine eliminated Swieqi Gasan Mamo Phoenix 30-19.

This clash started at a flowing pace with both teams trading goals.

However, Aloysians soon established a five-goal lead before the break, going on to seal their win with a polished display in the second half.

Aloysians captain Philip Mifsud was named man of the match.
