Di Francesco: Eusebio Di Francesco has been rewarded with a new three-year contract after guiding Serie A side Sassuolo to the brink of European football. Yesterday, the seventh-placed club announced that 46-year-old Di Francesco, who had been named as a possible successor to Italy boss Antonio Conte, was staying in Sassuolo until 2019. Sassuolo are targeting sixth place in Serie A and with it qualification to the preliminary rounds of the UEFA Europa League.

Guidolin: Francesco Guidolin says his Swansea future will be resolved in the next fortnight following further talks with club chairman Huw Jenkins. The Italian was appointed as Swansea head coach in January and has almost certainly led them to top-flight safety. “I spoke with him (Jenkins) and our conversation continues,” Guidolin said. “He said to me in two weeks he can decide for the future.”

Apology: Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori has apologised to Divock Origi over the challenge that injured the Liverpool striker in Wednesday’s Merseyside derby. Funes Mori was sent off after catching Origi on the ankle in Everton’s 4-0 thrashing at Anfield. Origi left the field on a stretcher. Funes Mori said: “I very much regret what happened. It was never my intention to harm a rival nor my colleagues (by) leaving the field.”

Hoax: Tottenham Hotspur pair Harry Kane and Dele Alli have confirmed a video posted on social media that shows four Premier League players saying “Time to go Massimo” is a hoax. A section of Leeds United fans are campaigning to force owner Massimo Cellino to sell the club and the video, posted by the account @WhiteLeedsSite, features Kane and Alli, plus Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Jack Wil-shere. Alli said: “It was a hoax. Disgusting the lengths people will go to get a video they can change the context of.”
