Maltese national football player Andre Schembri scored the winning penalty to send his club AC Omonia into the Cypriot Cup final yesterday.

The 0-0 first leg score between Larnaca and Omonia was repeated yesterday at the latter's GSP Stadium, with both teams goalless after 90 minutes.

With 30 minutes of extra time also failing to yield any goals, the semi-final was decided on penalties.

Omonia scored all five of their penalty kicks, with Schembri keeping his cool and rifling a shot past Larnaca keeper Toño Ramírez for the match's decisive kick.

Schembri was mobbed by teammates and other Omonia staff following his decisive kick.

Omonia will now hope to repeat their 2012 success when they face Apollon Limasol in the final, which is scheduled to take place on May 18.
