St George’s Band Club of Qormi, in collaboration with the local council, will be honouring the liturgical feast of St George with a concert being held in St Francis Square, on Saturday at 8pm.

It is being held in remembrance of the arrival of the statue that happened 275 years ago. The sculptor was a Qormi resident, Pietro Felici.

During this concert the St George’s Band Club will perform marches composed by the bandmaster, Archibald Mizzi. Also taking part will be 4 teenth productions by animating musical pieces from the Prince of Egypt and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Każin Kbir Imsemmi Għal Ismek, a new music piece composed by assistant bandmaster Peter Cini, and lyrics by Carmelo Bianchi will be performed. This music piece was organised by the youth section of the band club.

The concert will come to an end with two pieces – Fjur ta’ Martri, (a hymn used in church) composed by Mro Giuseppe Camilleri to lyrics penned by national poet Dun Karm Psaila and the band club hymn, composed by Mro Anton Muscat Azzopardi.
