MCAST students and staff can now access 23,000 ebooks from the comfort of their phones, thanks to a €560,000 investment part-financed by the European Social Fund.

The books run the gamut of topics, with a particular focus on IT and management. With titles such as “Mastering the new media landscape” and “Opportunistic mobile social networks”, the collection is expected to help bolster MCAST students’ knowledge of 21st century economies and thinking.

Students and staff on all MCAST campuses can access the ebook collection by using their MCAST usernames and passwords to login to the online library.

Those who prefer to do their reading while on the go can also download the Skillsoft ebooks app and start reading that way. Users can take notes and save them as bookmarks to easily reference in the future.

MCAST librarian Laurence Zerafa said the collection would be regularly updated with new edition titles, and the initiative has been welcomed by students.
“I think his tool helps us strengthen and explore new skills that we can use and transfer in our work,” said full-time student C Cassar.

The project is part-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF) 2007-2013 under the Operational Programme II within the context of ESF Project 1.130 – “Making VET Education More Relevant and Attractive”.
