The GWU insisted today that it had safeguarded the interests of former Enemalta workers transferred elsewhere, ensuring that they kept a job and retained their income.

The union was reacting to comments by independent MP Marlene Farrugia who asked in Parliament yesterday what had become of the GWU as experienced Enemalta workers were transferred to work under the Office of the President.

"Had independent MP Farrugia really had the interests of the workers at heart, she had every opportunity to seek information from the union on how the Enemalta restructuring process was handled," the union said.
