The finalists of the 2016 e-Journalism category of the Malta Journalism Awards, sponsored by Smart City, are Catherine Aquilina, Martha Carabott and Graziella Ellul, journalists at Newsbook.com.mt, and Nigel Mifsud from PBS. The e-Journalism category this year attracted a record number of 15 entries.

Smart City Malta CEO Anthony Tabone said: “On both a global and national level online communications has become the preferred means of sharing information, which is why e-Journalism is crucial in today’s fast-paced world with its power to reach people from all around the world in mere seconds.”

He added: “SmartCity Malta is designed to be a hub for all information and communication technology companies and we are committed to making the project the leading hub for knowledge-based clusters. We are therefore delighted to be celebrating and commending the excellent work of these journalists by sponsoring the category.”

The Malta Journalism Awards are organised annually by the Institute of Maltese Journalists. The winners of this 26th edition of the awards will be announced at the awards ceremony on May 21 at The Palace hotel, Sliema.
