Some 5,000 Scouts and Guides marched into Valletta to the beat of drums today during the annual traditional scout parade.

The event started from the Granaries in Floriana, from where the sea of scouts and guides were led into the capital.

The parade, down Republic Street and up Merchants Street, included the participation of many elderly, adults and children, showing the movement’s broad and ongoing appeal.

President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, the patron of the scouts and girl guides’ associations, took the salute in Palace Square.
