Three of the five bells of Nadur parish church were lowered from the north clock belfry to undergo conservation and restoration. The oldest of the bells, known as Tal-Quddies, and the third largest in size, was made by Aloysio Bouchet in 1747. The two others, known as Tad-Duttrina, and l-Frejħa, the smallest of the bells, were made in 1858 by Salvu Cauchi of Nadur, who lived in Cospicua. The Tad-Duttrina bell is being replaced as it is beyond repair. Its replacement (right), which was made at the company Havard in France, will be christened Karmena after its benefactress. The l-Frejħa bell (left) was sent to the same foundry to be tuned together with the new one.
