A group of 28 Italian walkers from the regions of Emilia Romagna and Veneto recently concluded a series of cultural and scenic walks in Malta, hosted by the Malta Ramblers’ Association, which provided them guides and walk leaders.

The association was reciprocating in a befitting manner the excellent service the Italian group had given to Maltese ramblers on various visits to Italy’s Bologna, Dolomites, Cinque Terre and Amalfi regions in recent years.

The Italians were taken around Vittoriosa on the afternoon of their day of arrival. Another day was dedicated to visits in Mdina and Valletta, where the Italians preferred to be lodged to appreciate this cultural gem.

They were also very appreciative of the variety of their walks in Malta, ranging from the south (Marsaxlokk to Marsascala), to the west (Ħagar Qim to Dingli), and to the north (Gozo), led by Maltese walk leaders.

The Italian visitors were impressed by Malta’s cultural and natural heritage as well as by the locals’ hospitality and kindness. They felt so much at ease and welcome that more exchanges of this kind were planned and will be forthcoming in the near future.
