Like some other prime ministers in Europe and elsewhere across the globe, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat wants to have it both ways: he wants to keep Konrad Mizzi in his Cabinet and Keith Schembri as his chief of staff, but at the same time, he wants to stay on as PM without further ado from the media and without the political controversies and problems tarnishing the image and reputation of his government.
Muscat knows he cannot have it both ways, but is adamant in his reasoning and wants to stick to his principles thinking that time will heal the wounds – like it did (he thinks) in the scandalous kangaroo promotions in the armed forces way back in 2013. However, people will be able to see through this blatant hypocrisy and double standards come election day in two years’ time.
Sorry, Mr Prime Minister, you can’t have your cake and eat it.
