The Scout Association of Malta and The Malta Girl Guides will be teaming up again to organise this year’s scouts and guides parade on Sunday. All groups will be marching in uniform behind the colours of the Maltese scouting and guiding flags.

Holy Mass will be celebrated at St Publius parish church by Bishop Emeritus Paul Cremona, together with the Floriana parish priest and national chaplains of both associations at 9am.

President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca will then take the salute of all scout and guide groups on a dais placed near the Grandmasters’ Palace in Republic Street, Valletta.

Sarria Road in Floriana will be closed off to traffic by 10.15am so that, after Mass, all scout and guide groups will start their fall in on the Granaries and near The Mall Gardens. This year, the parade will be led by the South District, followed by the Central District, Gozo District and North District.

March off will take place at 11am.

As in previous years, the groups will march down Republic Street, pass the Palace through St George’s Square and turn right into Archbishop Street, turning right once more to march up Merchants Street and then proceed down to Pjazza De La Valette.

The Scout Association of Malta and the Malta Girl Guides are thanking all those involved in assisting their associations during this annual event.

They especially thank the Malta Police Force, who go beyond their call of duty to accommodate their needs and provide all the necessary logistics and officers free of charge, the St John Ambulance for their support, the Floriana and Valletta local councils for the relevant permits and Transport Malta for rerouting their buses during the parade.
