The parish of St Julian’s is this year celebrating the 125th anniversary of its foundation.

To mark this milestone in history, parish priest Claude Portelli has set up a commission tasked with organising several initiatives/events – of a spiritual, religious, philanthropic, but also of a historical, cultural and social nature.

One of these events is an exhibition being set up by the Organising Committee for the 125th anniversary celebrations and the Għaqda Dilettanti Knisja ta’ Lapsi, a voluntary organisation set up in 2003 to assist the parish priest in the upkeep and restoration of the church and the works of art it houses at Villa Anna Teresa (Birkirkara Hill, St Julian’s).

The exhibition will showcase numerous paintings and works of art that adorn the parish church, the old parish church affectionately known as ‘Lapsi church’, and the church dedicated to the Immaculate Conception in Spinola Bay, as well as vestments and liturgical objects, historical documents and a collection of old photographs of rural St Julian’s and of various occasions in the history of the parish and the locality.
