Regardless of the rights and wrongs of transgender legislation in the US, I would like to make this point.

So often in airports, people arrive needing to use a toilet. So many times I see men happily popping in and out at a moment’s notice whereas women join great queues. You see, men and women share quite different anatomies, which means that women must have a cubicle.

I propose that every public toilet in Malta and indeed every communal toilet be mandated as a unisex toilet so both men and women share the agony of that horrid queue. I see no issue of morality here in the times we live in and indeed many establishments have already gone down this sensible route here in Malta.

So no more “Gents” and “Ladies”. Instead the common washroom – like the Ritz – open to all.

I am sure all men will agree with the sensible proposal that a toilet shared is a trouble halved.
