With reference to the Talking Point ‘When will MCCAA refund €2m?’, by Alfred Farrugia (April 5), the Ministry for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties would like to state the following.

The process of investigation mentioned by Farrugia is carried out independently by the director general of the Office of Competition within the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority.

Hence, in no way is this ministry nor the government involved in the investigation in question as Farrugia tried to imply.

The case, as has been highlighted by Farrugia, is still under investigation and a final decision is yet to be made.

The ministry obviously must not and will not interfere with the investigation.
