The Malta Football Association has ordered an inquiry into allegations of impropriety in the granting of contracts and sub-contracts for stadium infrastructural works.

The claims, made by the Premier Division Standing Committee in a letter to MFA president Norman Darmanin Demajo, primarily concern works done at the Tedesco Stadium and Mosta ground.

Mr Darmanin Demajo told the MFA Council this afternoon that the letter contained serious allegations.

He said that although the PDSC was not recognised by the MFA statute, he had decided to refer it to the Board of Auditors for an inquiry.

No details of the allegations were released.

Dione Borg, the Floriana FC council member, explained to the council that the PDSC felt obliged to alert the MFA about these allegations after one of its members made the claim during one of its meetings.
