Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar is this week presenting the first of its 2016 Heritage Homes events at the French Ambassador’s residence in Żebbuġ, directly behind the parish church.

Béatrice le Fraper du Hellen has agreed to host a garden party for FAA members in celebration of trees.

The garden residence in Żebbuġ is typical of the Maltese walled gardens which could be found in most fine old country houses. Olives and especially citrus trees flourished in the warm climate, with Malta’s oranges known for their fine quality far beyond our shores, being sent as presents to the various courts of Europe.

More recently, other trees have been introduced to this garden which was enlarged.

FAA’s tree experts will be giving guided tours of the beautiful gardens andtheir ancient trees, followed by tea and refreshments.

The garden tours will be held over two consecutive weekends, this Saturday and on Saturday, April 16 at 3pm. Every booked guest needs to provide their printed ticket and ID card. These documents must be presented at the door due to security considerations.

This event is limited to members of Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar. Should youwish to become a member, you can do so at http://new.faa.org.mt/how-to-help/become-a-member/ . Tickets may be booked by visiting: https://ticketengine.faa.org.mt/

A €15 donation will go towards FAA’s tree-planting initiative.

In addition to this activity, FAA is also planning talks on medieval illuminated manuscripts, on Malta’s heritage architecture, a heritage dinner cruise and a tour to Gozo, as members-only special events.
