Wardens patrolling the streets around St Paul's Missionary College in Rabat are refusing to let educators enter the school with their vehicles, the Malta Union of Teachers said.

The wardens argued that there was a no-entry sign, which sign had already been contested and its removal had been ordered by Transport Malta.

The wardens’ actions, the MUT said, was creating an unnecessary inconveniences to educators and residents, who ended up with at least 40 extra cars in their neighbourhood.

The union said today it wrote to the education and transport ministers and the Local Government Parliamentary Secretary asking them to intervene for the situation to be solved at the earliest.

Unless this was done, it said, it would have no other option but to order industrial action.
