Congratulations to Marlene Farrugia and her group for attempting to pull this country out of the morass of political intrigues we have had for the past 95 years.

The problem is the old political system to which both major parties adhere to, in which they adopt diametrically opposing views. This is a sign of immaturity which we should have outgrown by now.

Under such circumstances I have felt unable to vote for either party. I believe that the democratically elected Prime Minister is there for all people and should be assisted and supported to provide good governance, and not obstructed at every step of the way. This, of course, does not mean no criticism but criticism of a constructive nature.

This new, modern, progressive party will serve such a purpose and act as a catalyst to enable the party in power to deliver better governance. Once this new party achieves credibility it will attract new talent from the public and hopefully grow in status.

A major goal of the new party is to educate the children and the electorate in democratic principles and in the philosophy of the late President John Kennedy: “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”.

My good wishes for the new party to flourish and grow. I am ready to vote for a party that includes Marlene Farrugia, Salvu Mallia and Franco Debono.
