The Malta U-17 team will face South Africa in the final of the EU Nations Junior Waterpolo Cup in Austria today after beating Poland 16-6 in yesterday’s semi-final.

Nikolai Zammit topped the scoring charts with five goals while Jacob Sciberras, who netted five in Malta’s 14-4 win over Switzerland earlier in the day, obtained a hat-trick.

“The team produced two impeccable performances,” head coach Karl Izzo said in an ASA statement.

“All the players played an active role in the game and kept the team strong at all times.”

With Malta’s only loss in Vienna coming at the hands of South Africa (8-7) in their opening game, Izzo’s boys will be looking to avenge that upset in this afternoon’s title clash.
