A man who raised panic on a bus yesterday by claiming he was carrying a bomb was handed a three month suspended sentence today and warned by a magistrate to stay away from trouble.

Dimitar Mirchesti, a 31-year-old from Macedonia was taken to court this morning, accused of creating public alarm.

He admitted the charge and said he wanted to apologise to the Maltese people and, particularly the bus commuters.

The incident happened yesterday at the bus depot near the park and ride in Marsa. The police blocked off roads and searched passengers until it was ascertained that it was a false alarm.
