The founder of the German group of companies Prominent, Professor Viktor Dulger, passed away on Tuesday, aged 81, the Economy Ministry said.

Prominent are world leaders in advanced technology for the treatment of water and other fluids. They have production sites in Germany, Brazil, China, Czech Republic, France, India, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, the USA and Malta.

The ministry said Prof. Dulger first visited Malta in 1985 and soon after his visit decided to establish a production facility here. Only a few weeks ago, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat inaugurated a new expansion of Prominent in Bulebel.

Prominent employs 110 in Malta and exports its specialised products throughout the world.

Dr Muscat, Economy Minister Chris Cardona, and chairmen and boards of directors of Malta Enterprise and Malta Industrial Parks Ltd. extended their condolences to the Dulger family and the Prominent Group.

“Professor Viktor Dulger will be remembered as an iconic representative of German industrial investment in Malta and the Maltese Government will continue to cherish his wise advice and continue to invest in education and training,” Dr Cardona said.
