Njongo Priso’s season took a turn for the worse yesterday after the Sliema Wanderers winger was handed a two-match ban following his dismissal in the 3-3 draw against Balzan on Saturday.

Having just been booked for protests, Priso was shown the red card 10 minutes from time for addressing referee Fyodor Zammit in an abusive manner.

This is the second time Priso has received a two-match ban since joining the Wanderers on the last day of the January transfer window.

The suspension means that he will miss the upcoming league games against Pembroke Athleta and Mosta.

Four other Premier League players received a one-match ban for four yellow cards, yesterday.

League leaders Valletta will be without Brazilian right-back Romeo Romau for their clash with Tarxien Rainbows on April 2 while title rivals Hibs have lost midfielder Bjorn Kristensen for their match against Floriana the following day.

Brazilian playmaker Pedrinho will sit out Balzan’s game against St Andrew’s on April 2 while the Saints will be without Equatorial Guinea defender Eloy Nkene.

Hibernians FC secretary Stephen Abela was handed a two-match touchline ban after being ordered off the bench by referee Alan Mario Sant during his side’s 1-1 draw against Pembroke Athleta last Saturday.

Mark Vella, Sliema’s goalkeepers’ coach, was handed a three-match touchline ban after being dismissed in the draw against Balzan while St Andrews physio Alejandro Pantoja, expelled from the bench in his side’s 3-2 defeat to Tarxien Rainbows, was suspended for one game.
