Health and Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi has instituted libel proceedings against Beppe Fenech Adami for having repeated outside parliament comments made in the Chamber by Opposition leader Simon Busuttil.

Dr Fenech Adami made the comments on TimesTalk yesterday after being challenged by Dr Mizzi.

In a statement issued through the Department of Information, the ministry said that the only millions that existed were the million euro made by Simon Busuttil’s and Anne Fenech’s companies when they were given consultancy contracts by the former government.

The ministry said Dr Fenech Adami was refusing to subject himself to a tax audit of the funds he had in the bank, and his own properties.

PN LOOKS FORWARD TO MIZZI'S TESTIMONY

In a statement, the Nationalist Party said it looked forward to listening to Dr Mizzi say, under oath, why he opened a company in Panama after he became minister responsible for the country's biggest projects, as his colleague Keith Schembri also did at the same time and using the same financial consultant. This happened only a few days after a hidden visit to Azerbaijan.

Dr Mizzi, the PN said, could file as many libel suits as he wanted but his only option was to resign because harming his party even more.
