Gżira Athleta climbed to third place in the MSV Life Women’s League after defeating Floriana.

PAVI Depiro dropped to the fourth and last play-off spot after going down to Electrofix Hibs while Caffè Moak Luxol achieved a century win over Starlites Sports Experience.

Gżira were back to winning ways after seeing off bottom-placed Floriana, 69-32. After the opening minutes, Gżira raised the pressure to open a 17-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Floriana shared the exchanges in the second with Gżira changing ends 30-19 in front. Athleta increased their rhythm to pull out of sight in the last two sessions.

Hibs, level on 17 points with Luxol, were in command from the opening minutes of their match against Depiro.

After taking a 15-9 lead at the end of the first quarter, Hibs went on to change ends 10 points ahead, 31-21.

Depiro tried to make a comeback as the third quarter got underway but, after trimming the gap to five points, 35-30, they were again pegged back by Hibs who restored their lead to start the 10 ten minutes 47-34 ahead.

The last session was a one-sided affair as the stuttering Depiro were no match for Hibs who cruised to a 74-48 victory.

Luxol proved too strong for the young Starlites. The latter were never in contention as Luxol were already 35-6 ahead at the end of the first quarter. After changing ends 54-8 in front, Luxol continued to dominate to surpass the 100-point mark for a 105-27 win.
