Hibs Electrofix and Caffe Moak Luxol continue to lead the women’s basketball league standings after comfortable victories over Floriana and PAVI Depiro during the weekend.

Athleta made sure of a berth in the play-offs thanks to their victory over Starlites on Saturday.

Hibs had an easy outing on Sunday after beating bottom-placed Floriana 83-13.

The Paola girls took control right from the jumpball and after potting all first 24 points of the match, they went on to change ends enjoying a huge 52-7 lead.

Floriana were a spent force and Hibs continued to dominate on court to wrap up their seventh win from eight matches.

Luxol were never in trouble against Depiro on Sunday.

After opening an 18-7 lead towards the end of the first quarter, they went on to change ends 38-12 in front.

Though Depiro showed better play after the interval, their efforts were not enough to halt Luxol from running out 70-37 winners.

After their upset to Depiro, Athleta needed victory to make sure of a top-four berth at the expense of a young Starlites team.

In a balanced first quarter, Starlites held the edge but Athleta stepped up their play before the break to surge into a 30-18 lead.

Starlites tried to re-open the issue but their efforts were controlled by Athleta who won the match 51-38.

Standings: Hibs 15 (7-1); Luxol 15 (7-1); Depiro 12 (4-4); Athleta 12 (4-4); Starlites 10 (2-6); Floriana 8 (0-8).

National League: Saturday, 14.45 Floriana vs Athleta. Sunday, 11.15 Luxol vs Starlites; 14.45 Hibs vs Depiro.
