The San Benedittu Qrendi Primary school has been shortlisted in the International Environmental TSL 2016 Schools Sustainability Challenge.

The primary school has steadily established itself as one of Malta's young 'Guardians of the Environment' ambassadors nationally and internationally.

It has been shortlisted as one of the 10 finalists in recognition of its efforts through HSBC's, 'Catch the Drop' initiatives, in which the school narrates how rainwater is collected from the school's rooftops and used in the school's garden irrigation, as part of its environmental duties and obligations.

The Schools Sustainability Challenge recognises and rewards the sustainability action and leadership of schools around the world. The winning school is awarded the Schools Sustainability Challenge Trophy, together with a cash prize of £500.

The Qrendi Primary is inviting its students, their families, friends, and patrons, to visit the Living Rainforest website, where visitors are invited to view the Qrendi Primary school’s video entry on Youtube whilst showing their support by pressing Like on the YouTube video in order to increase the school’s chances of success.

The winner will be announced at the TSL 2016 International Schools Debate and Awards in Dubai in April.

The San Benedittu (Qrendi Primary) is also a holder of the Green Flag award within Malta’s Nature Trust Ekoskola Environment programme, as well as Malta Birdlife’s 'Dinja Wahda' award recipient, alongside Wasteserve EWWR and HSBC’s 'Catch the Drop' Award holders.
