The Prime Minister deserves the same kind of condemnation at Konrad Mizzi because he is maintaining Dr Mizzi’s defence, Opposition leader Simon Busuttil said this afternoon.

Dr Mizzi has admitted owning a trust in New Zealand and a company in Panama, a blacklisted tax haven.

Speaking on Net TV, Dr Busuttil said Dr Muscat was still refusing to say when Dr Mizzi had set up his company in Panama because it did not suit him to answer the question.

He said he was disgusted at what Dr Mizzi had done, at the support he was finding from the Prime Minister and at the fact that the country was managed by these people.

It was wrong and unacceptable for a minister to set up a company in a dirty tax haven, Dr Busuttil said.

It was also wrong an unacceptable that this was done when Dr Mizzi was a minister who did not have a significant income to justify it, had major projects under his wing and had not published any of the contracts he signed.

This was not a problem for the Prime Minister and Dr Mizzi had now been promoted to the Labour Party’s deputy leader and was still trusted with major projects.

Because of this, Dr Muscat deserved the same kind of condemnation.

Dr Muscat said that he was disgusted at the government and sad for the country, as were the people.

“I am also determined more than ever before to offer an alternative to this government and Dr Mizzi and Dr Muscat should know that no amount of insults or intimidation will stop me,” Dr Busuttil said.

Opposition leader again fails to repeat what he said in Parliament - PL

In a statement, the Labour Party said the Opposition leader hid behind a telephone call on Net TV and again showed what a coward he was by not repeating in public what he said in Parliament.

It was clear that Dr Busuttil was comfortable to make allegations and throw mud from the comfort of a hotel he was at overseas.

Dr Busuttil, the PL said, should say what was his involvement of who he represented a trustee until this year.
