The infamous Gozitan shepherd would have us believe that his culled sheep were valued at €2,500 per head.  On my family’s farm in England the current market value of our most prized purebred sheep is a maximum of €500.

I believe that approximately 300 sheep have thus far survived the cull so I hope that the Gozo tourist board does not miss a trick: they have been presented with a glorious marketing opportunity for foreign visitors - namely, the opportunity to witness and observe the most expensive sheep in the European Union!
