The University library foyer is currently hosting an exhibition of photographs taken by students of impressive Sicilian landscapes characterised by gorges, waterfalls, lakes and streams, a variety of fauna including butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies and wall lizards, and a host of different flora.

The photos were taken in Sicily in June 2015 by Alex Bugeja, Johan Debono, Celine Farrugia, Kimberly Gauci, Gloriane Mifsud, Jonathan Pullicino and Alison Zammit Endrich, who participated in a nature photography study in Sicily as part the University’s Programme in the Liberal Arts and Sciences (Plas).

During the tour they visited Bosco di Malabotta, a nature reserve in Messina and one of the last remaining natural woodlands in Sicily; Rocche Dell’Argimusco, Riserva Naturale Pantalica; Valle Dell’Anapo, a Unesco site near Siracusa, and Mount Etna National Park in the province of Catania. The programme also included on-site lectures. The tour was coordinated by Guido Bonett, who is also curating the exhibition.

The exhibition, organised by the Centre for the Liberal Arts and Sciences (Clas), in collaboration with the University Library, was opened by University rector Juanito Camilleri, and is open until March 18.
