These are the main stories from today's local newspapers.

Times of Malta reports that Labour MP Joseph Sammut is one of the witnesses called by Mark Gaffarena to testify in his defence in the court case following the Valletta property expropriation scandal, according to documents. It also reports that San Anton School in Mġarr willnot be closed down while the Occupational Health and Safety Authority investigates whether there are safety issues following the collapse of a school wall on Thursday.

In-Nazzjon quotes the Nationalist Party saying that the fact Malta was missing out on EU funds shows the extent of the government's incompetence. Showing a picture of works in Marsalform, Gozo, the paper also says there was anger among many as works were being hurried through to accommodate more tables and chairs on pavements.

L-Orizzont says the Maltese police emerged very positively after the dramatic capture in Valletta of a Polish man who is wanted for a grisly murder in his country. It also reports that the owner of the troubled airline company Wind Jet has been arrested in Sicily.

The Malta Independent says British Prime Minister David Cameron had left the EU summit with a good deal in hand but it would be British voters who would have the final say. It also says that parents at San Anton School were angry after strong winds blew down a school wall.
