Ira Losco may head to the Eurovision contest with a different song after all after the European Broadcasting Unit confirmed that the winning title may be changed.

Ever since Losco won the contest last month with her song Chameleon, rumours have persisted that the local organisers were contemplating amending or even changing the song altogether.

During a visit to Malta and speaking to national broadcaster PBS, organisers of the event, EBU supervisor Jan Ola Sand confirmed that this year the festival is intentioned to provide a stage to the artist rather than the song. The local organisers have hinted that they are contemplating tweaking the winning song or even changing it altogether.

If so, Malta has to provide the song to the EBU within the next five weeks. 

However, the new rules also made it clear that any changes to the song have to be made in consultation with the composer, author and singer of the song.

Losco's winning song earned 40 per cent of the popular vote and the majority of votes from the judges. 

Losco will perform in the first semi-final on May 10, with the final taking place in the Swedish capital four days later.
