Top actor Tom Cruise has arrived in Malta to scout locations for his new film - a remake of the adventure horror film The Mummy.

The production team scouted various locations around the island but appeared to have set its eyes on Fort Ricasoli in Kalkara, industry sources said some weeks ago. The film is expected to start shooting in summer.

There was talk last year that the award-winning actor was in talks with Universal Pictures for a tie-in with the film. 

Mr Cruise is expected to leave Malta this evening.

The world-renowned actor has been nominated for three Academy Awards and has won three Golden Globe Awards.
