A Moroccan man who admitted filing a false declaration in order to obtain a residence permit in Malta, was handed an 18-month prison sentence suspended for three years by a court.
Sealiti Brahim, 51, who lives in Kappara, was arraigned this morning before Magistrate Doreen Clarke, where he pleaded guilty.
Sources told this newspaper that the case had been flagged by Identity Malta which discovered that the lease and study agreements submitted by the accused were fake.
Subsequently it transpired that the Moroccan had obtained these documents from a Libyan national, against a payment of €2,000.
