Customs officials have confiscated 1,605 litres of wine on which excise duty had not been paid.

The department said in a statement the haul followed a search in the past days which led them to a store in the centre part of the island where they found the wine, in 1,890 containers.

The search also led to the investigation of an importer of a container with 72,000 energy drinks on which excise duty had not been paid.
