Architect Edward Said will be giving a talk at Din l-Art Ħelwa, 133, Melita Street, Valletta on Thursday at 6.30pm. The talk is entitled Sliema: Dreams, Losses and Changes.

The speaker is a conservation architect and partner at Architecture XV, a researcher on Maltese architectural history and founding member of the Sliema Heritage Society.

When it comes to losing sites of historic and architectural importance many will grimace and say that in all of Malta undoubtedly Sliema has fared the worst. Instinctively, we immediately hark back to the bygone Edwardian terraced houses that graced Tower Road, and what stands in their stead today. However, there are other, sometimes older pieces of heritage which are all but forgotten today.

During this lecture, a selection (by no means exhaustive) of heritage landmarks which no longer exist will be presented and discussed.

Entrance is free of charge but donations to Din l-Art Ħelwa are appreciated.
